It includes teams from the NCAA Division I-Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), NCAA Division I-Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), NCAA Division II , and NCAA Division III .
Of these 30 teams, only 20 teams have won multiple titles. Of the 20 teams, only 7 have won five or more national titles: Alabama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, Miami (FL), Nebraska, and Ohio State. The years listed in the table below indicate a national championship selection by the AP or Coaches Poll.
