Hatra (/ ˈ h æ. t r ə /; Arabic: الحضر (Arabic pronunciation: [ˈħadˀ.ra]); Syriac: ܚܛܪܐ) was an ancient city in Upper Mesopotamia located in present-day eastern Nineveh Governorate in northern Iraq.
