Palmer College of Chiropractic is a private chiropractic college with its main campus in Davenport, Iowa. It was established in 1897 by Daniel David Palmer and was the first school of chiropractic in the world. The college's name was originally the Palmer School and Cure and later became the Palmer School of Chiropractic. [4]
Daniel David Palmer (March 7, 1845 – October 20, 1913) was a Canadian-born American spiritualist and activist best known for creating chiropractic. [4] Palmer was born in Pickering Township, Canada West , [ 2 ] [ 3 ] but emigrated to the United States in 1865. [ 5 ]

The B.J. Palmer House, also known as the Palmer Family Residence, is a historic building located on the Brady Street Hill in Davenport, Iowa, United States. It is on the campus of Palmer College of Chiropractic and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984. [1] The college offers tours of the first floor of the mansion.
In 1913, there were three chiropractic schools in Davenport, Iowa: the Palmer School of Chiropractic, Universal College of Chiropractic, and the Davenport College of Chiropractic. On July 4 of that year, a group of chiropractic students representing those schools held an Independence Day picnic at Credit Island.
