Montauk (/ ˈ m ɒ n t ɔː k / MON-tawk) is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, New York, on the eastern end of the South Shore of Long Island. As of the 2020 United States census, the CDP's population was 4,318. [3]
The Montauk Association Historic District is a 100-acre (40 ha) historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It is a complex of large Shingle style cottages for wealthy New York City families' summer use, designed by McKim, Mead and White within a site plan designed by Frederick Law Olmsted in 1881.
In 2015, Montauk Chronicles, a film adaptation of the conspiracy featuring Preston Nichols, Alfred Bielek, and Stewart Swerdlow, was released online and on DVD and Blu-ray. The film won the best documentary award at the Philip K. Dick Film Festival in New York City [6] and has been featured on Coast to Coast AM [7] and The Huffington Post. [8]

Montauk Light was the first lighthouse in New York State, and is the fourth-oldest active lighthouse in the United States. The tower is 110 feet 6 inches (33.68 metres) high.
Montauk Point State Park features picnic tables, a food concession, playground, fishing, seasonal hunting, and trails for hiking and cross-country skiing. [4] Suffolk Transit's S94 route also serves the park seasonally connecting it with Montauk Village. The park is located at the end of New York State Route 27.
Montauk County Park, formerly known as Theodore Roosevelt County Park, [1] is located approximately three miles (4.8 km) east of Montauk, New York.The park is 1,157 acres (4.68 km 2) in size, running from Montauk Highway north to Block Island Sound and is bordered on the east by Montauk Point State Park.
