This page explains how to place images on wiki pages, where the image acts as a hypertext link to somewhere other than the image description page.Care should be taken that this is done in compliance with the licensing terms of the file in question, particularly if they require proper attribution.
|link=Page Ordinarily, clicking on an image takes the reader to the image description page. The link option allows the reader to be taken instead to a different page, such as a fuller image from which the thumbnail was cropped, or to a full document of which the thumbnail was a single page (or crop of a single page).
Examples include movie posters, corporate logos, and screenshots of web pages. To upload a non-free image, use the File Upload Wizard, which will help you add all of the required information. A link to the wizard can be found under "Tools" at the left of the screen.
Let us say you want to link to the picture without displaying it. You can do it by adding a colon before the "File:" prefix. You can take them to the image page, where it tells them who uploaded it, when, what the copyright status is, etc.: [[:File:Wikipedesketch.png]] File:Wikipedesketch.png. You can make the link say anything you want.
A gallery displays several pictures in an array or similar layout. Galleries can display images formed into rows and columns by use of the <gallery>...</gallery> parser (conversion of Wikitext to HTML) tag. Be aware that different screen size and browsers may affect accessibility for some readers.

After the image is uploaded, click the "Use this file" button at the top of the image page (with the W) and copy the "thumbnail" code. To add the image to your user page you just need to replace {{New user bar}} with {{New user bar|image=PASTE THE IMAGE CODE HERE}}.
Here readers would see the link displayed as particle physics, not the hidden reference to the page Parton (particle physics), unless they followed the link or inspected the target title e.g. by mousing over it. If a physical copy of the article were printed, or the article saved as an audio file, the reference to the parton model would be lost.
