Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) is a public liberal arts university with a Christian education heritage in Kowloon Tong, Kowloon, Hong Kong. The university was established as Hong Kong Baptist College with the support of American Baptists , who provided both operating and construction funds and personnel to the school in its early years.
It is the first affiliated school opened by a university in Hong Kong. The school was officially established in 2006, and the first batch of students began attending classes in September of the same year. The school has a total area of 12,000 square metres (130,000 sq ft) and the primary and secondary division is connected together.
The school was founded in 1951 by the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong on the premises of Kowloon City Baptist Church. [1] In 1958, it inaugurated a new campus. [2] In 1999, it moved to its current building. [3] [4]
