The Common Core State Standards Initiative, also known as simply Common Core, was an American, multi-state educational initiative begun in 2010 with the goal of increasing consistency across state standards, or what K–12 students throughout the United States should know in English language arts and mathematics at the conclusion of each school grade.
The Idaho Department of Education is an executive agency of the Idaho state education system. [1] [2] The department is responsible for public elementary and secondary school matters as provided by Title 33, Idaho Code, or as determined by the Idaho State Board of Education. [3] It is headquartered in the state capital, Boise, Idaho.
These standards cover eight content areas: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, World Languages, Fine Arts, and Health Education. The standards are subdivided into "benchmarks," which outline the specific content, knowledge, and skills that students are expected to learn in school.
The WIDA Consortium (formerly World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment) is an educational consortium of state departments of education.Currently, 42 U.S. states and the District of Columbia participate in the WIDA Consortium, as well as the Northern Mariana Islands, the United States Virgin Islands, Palau, the Bureau of Indian Education, and the Department of Defense Education Activity.
