San Remigio is located at It is 21 kilometres (13 mi) north-east from the provincial capital, San Jose de Buenavista. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the municipality has a land area of 406.98 square kilometres (157.14 sq mi) [7] constituting 14.91% of the 2,729.17-square-kilometre- (1,053.74 sq mi) total area of Antique.
The rice terraces of the Cordilleras are one of the few monuments in the Philippines that show no evidence of having been influenced by colonial cultures. Owing to the difficult terrain, the Cordillera tribes are among the few peoples of the Philippines who have successfully resisted any foreign domination and have preserved their authentic tribal culture.
The site has been declared by the National Museum of the Philippines as a National Cultural Treasure in 1973. It is also included in the list of the World Inventory of Rock Art in 1985 and historic sites of the World Monuments Watch and World Monuments Funds [2] and part of the Philippines' tentative list of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park is located on the island of Panay, in the provinces of Aklan and Antique of the Philippines which was proclaimed a natural park by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on 18 April 2002 (Presidential Proclamation No. 186, 2002).
