Alton Castle: Late 12th century: The castle was extended in the 13th century, and is now in ruins. The remains include part of the curtain wall, a wall tower, a gatehouse, and an oval bailey. The eastern wall tower is square and has an open back, and all that remains of the 13th-century D-shaped western wall tower are the foundations.
