In July 2018, Bromford successfully completed a partnership with South West-based Merlin Housing Society to create a new organisation which retained the Bromford name. As of 2024 Bromford owns and manages around 47,000 homes [ 3 ] and provides services for approximately 110,000 people [ 4 ] living in those homes.
The house was extensively altered around 1610, and stood until 1725, when it was replaced by a smaller house, completed in 1726. [ 9 ] [ 10 ] The third hall was demolished in 1842, and the present hall built for William Herrick over a seven-year period between 1842 and 1848 by William Railton in the Jacobean style. [ 9 ]
The ward comprises the civil parishes of Hathern and Stonebow Village, with the north-western part of unparished Loughborough. [8] It includes the suburbs of Dishley and Thorpe Acre as well as the village of Hathern. Notable roads in the ward include the A6/Derby Road, Bishop Meadows Road, Pear Tree Lane, and Warwick Way. The older part of the building was an early 19th century house called Southfields. [21] The house was acquired by the old Loughborough Town Council during the Second World War and after the war was converted to be additional offices supplementing those at Loughborough Town Hall . [ 22 ]
In 2019 the former districts Taunton Deane and West Somerset (a largely rural area, with a population of 35,712) [5] were merged to form the largest district, Somerset West and Taunton. [6] South Somerset covers an area of 958 square kilometres (370 sq mi) from the borders with Devon and Dorset to the edge of the Somerset Levels. [7]
