Mark Walter Olson (March 17, 1943 – September 12, 2018) was an American economist and bank executive who served as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from 2001 to 2006. Olson was born on a farm north of Murdock, Minnesota, the son of Olof and Anna (Anderson) Olson.Both his father and mother were immigrants from Sweden.After eight grades of school in Murdock, Olson enrolled in the West Central School of Agriculture, Morris, MN, (now the University of Minnesota Morris) graduating in 1932.
