Eight-man football "Gun Formation" Eight-man football is a form of gridiron football, generally played by high schools with smaller enrollments. Eight-man football differs from the traditional 11-man game with the reduction of three players on each side of the ball and a field width that can be reduced to 40 yards, 13 1/3 yards narrower than the 53 1/3-yard 11-man field.
The football team had to cancel the remainder of the 2016 season for safety reasons because it did not have enough players. The school's football team now competes as an 8-man team after they notified the CIF-Southern Section to change its schedule. They competed for the first time as an 8-man team after 51 years of competing as an 11-man team.

In January 2017, the boys football program switched to a hybrid 8-Man/11-Man Football schedule for the 2017 season, (4 11-Man games and 6 8-man games). The 2017 season will be a transition year for the program which will eventually move back to 8-man by the 2018 football season. The reason is undisclosed.
