Bangladesh Chhatra League [a] (abbr. BCL/BSL), formerly known as the East Pakistan Chhatra League, simply called the Chhatra League, is the student wing of the political party, Bangladesh Awami League, founded by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 4 January 1948. [2] The organisation is banned and designated as a terrorist organisation in Bangladesh. [3]
The joint forces of the Chhatra League and other law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh employed violent measures to suppress the 2024 quota protests and the non-cooperation movement across the country. [58] During the crackdown, more than one thousand protesters lost their lives, and more than 20,000 were injured as a result of the clashes.

On 28 November 2013, JCD attacked a demonstration by the Bangladesh Awami League's student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League in Narsingdi, resulting in the deaths of two Chhatra League members. [22] Factional clashes among JCD activists in front of the BNP office in Naya Paltan on 17 March 2014 left 10 activists injured. [23]
