  2. Bohr model - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohr_model

In atomic physics, the Bohr model or Rutherford–Bohr model was the first successful model of the atom. Developed from 1911 to 1918 by Niels Bohr and building on Ernest Rutherford 's nuclear model , it supplanted the plum pudding model of J J Thomson only to be replaced by the quantum atomic model in the 1920s.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bohr_Model.svg

I created this file to be an SVG alternative to Image:Bohratommodel.png and Image:Bohr model Balmer 32.png. I did not draw the orbitals to scale like the latter diagram because I could not readily find information about the orbitals' radii. For some reason, the "+" on the nucleus is rendering off-centered. The SVG doesn't look like that.

  6. Atomic orbital - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_orbital

Atomic orbitals are basic building blocks of the atomic orbital model (or electron cloud or wave mechanics model), a modern framework for visualizing submicroscopic behavior of electrons in matter. In this model, the electron cloud of an atom may be seen as being built up (in approximation) in an electron configuration that is a product of ...

  8. Niels Bohr - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niels_Bohr

[170] [171] On 7 October 2012, in celebration of Niels Bohr's 127th birthday, a Google Doodle depicting the Bohr model of the hydrogen atom appeared on Google's home page. [172] An asteroid, 3948 Bohr , was named after him, [ 173 ] as was the Bohr lunar crater , and bohrium , the chemical element with atomic number 107, in acknowledgement of ...

  9. History of spectroscopy - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_spectroscopy

Bohr had been working on his atom during this period, but Bohr's model had only a single ground state and no spectra until he incorporated the Nicholson model and referenced the Nicholson papers in his model of the atom. [56] [57] [58] In 1913, Bohr [59] formulated his quantum mechanical model of atom. This stimulated empirical term analysis.
