On March 12, 1859, they rented a house at 6719 Germantown Ave in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia. Sister Louise Marthens came with four orphaned girls from the Passavant home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to help get the home in Germantown off the ground.
