The British Rowing Championships usually take place every year and are normally held at the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont (Nottingham), with occasional championships held at the Strathclyde Country Park. The championships originally incorporated Senior and Junior crews but since 2013 have been held separately.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Regatta Committee took the decision to cancel the event in 2020 - only the 11th time it had been cancelled since 1834. The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta will celebrate its 179th event over the week of 24-31 August 2024, with the detailed Regatta running 29-31 Aug 24 after an Opening Ceremony on Wed 28 Aug 24.
In 2021, Eton College won the 1st, 2nd & 3rd eight events [5] and in 2024 St Paul's School repeated the success; it was the fourth and fifth times respectively that this has been achieved in the regatta's history. In 2025, the event returned to the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham. [4]
