Cherry Grove Beach, sometimes known as Cherry Grove, is a neighborhood of the city of North Myrtle Beach in Horry County, South Carolina, United States. [1] It lies along South Carolina Highway 9 and South Carolina Highway 65. The Cherry Grove Pier is a popular landmark of Cherry Grove. It was built early in the 1950s.
Via South Carolina Highway 9 it is 67 miles (108 km) southeast of Interstate 95 near Dillon, South Carolina. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 17.7 square miles (45.8 km 2), of which 17.1 square miles (44.3 km 2) are land and 0.62 square miles (1.6 km 2), or 3.39%, are water. South Carolina Highway 69 (SC 69) was a state highway that was established in 1977 from U.S. Route 17 (US 17) in Atlantic Beach, up to Cherry Grove Beach, and then back to US 17. In 1981, it was decommissioned and redesignated as SC 65.
This is not the first time Cherry Grove Pier has been rebuilt. Since opening in the 1950s, it has survived several hurricanes and, as a result, has had several repair projects.
