What Jim said. Unless one of us points out a modification no one else is going to notice. If I see a YJ tub on a CJ the first thing I do is look at the bolt pattern to determine if It is a CJ hood and grill on a YJ or an upgraded CJ7. That is what AMC/Chrysler/Jeep should have done and called it a CJ11. The YJ tub on a CJ7 is a smart move to me.

I ordered a a cj7 from the factory in 1982 and one of the options was a snap-on bug screen which I ordered. Left it on 365. I now have a 1985 CJ7 and found on EBAY an original screen and installation kit. I am going to install it at some point since it is a factory option and of course is a good one.
As mcmud said, if you've got an unmodified 78 CJ7, those hard doors had a different latch/striker mechanism than the 81 and later doors. So yes, all years CJ-7 and YJ doors will fit your 78 if you change the strikers on your tub to the later style. With no change, CJ-7/YJ doors with "paddle handles" will not work.
an 85 CJ7 should have the WT axles unless someone swapped in a set of NT axles... the WT's would be 54" WMS-WMS. The scout axles also have 0° caster and will have poor driving habits on pavement. You can fix this by cutting the knuckles off, rotating them and re-welding but its a LOT of work. The rear axle swap is pretty straight forward though.

I like the CJ7 best. The only years they came with a stock 304 was from 1976-81. I like the CJ7 more simply because of the wheelbase. Why the V-8? The 258 I-6 was one heckuva torquey, reliable engine. Don't discount it completely. Last year of production was 1986. In theory that should be the epitomy of a CJ, but you would prefer a V-8.
