Mount Olivet was consecrated in 1885, and was the first Catholic cemetery to be established in the south side of Chicago. There are over 142,200 people buried at the cemetery, with over 150 annual interments. The cemetery is 93 acres (38 ha) in size.
Holy Sepulchre Cemetery is a Roman Catholic cemetery of the Archdiocese of Chicago, located in the village of Alsip, Illinois, in Worth Township, southwest of Chicago. It was the first cemetery in the archdiocese to open post World War 1, after Mt. Olivet cemetery began to run out of space.

Chapel at Mount Olivet Cemetery. On June 5, 1852, the Council of the City of Washington in the District of Columbia passed a local ordinance that barred the creation of new cemeteries anywhere within Georgetown or the area bounded by Boundary Street (northwest and northeast), 15th Street (east), East Capitol Street, the Anacostia River, the Potomac River, and Rock Creek.
They established their own cemetery south of St. Joseph Cemetery the following year. It was expanded to the west in 1927. St. Joseph and Saints Peter and Paul Cemeteries became known as the Catholic Cemetery of Carroll. In 1954, they merged and were renamed Mount Olivet Cemetery. In 1970, the cemetery's deed was transferred to the City of Carroll.
