The 2021 Table Mountain fire (also known as the Rhodes Memorial fire [2] or Cape Town fire [3] [4]) is a major fire that started on 18 April 2021 [5] in and around Table Mountain National Park and the neighbourhoods of Newlands, [2] Rosebank, Mowbray and Rondebosch in Cape Town, South Africa.

The area is a significant conservation area for the indigenous fynbos vegetation, which is of the montane cone-bush type at this location. [2] The Ou Kaapse Weg main road runs through the reserve, cutting it into a northern and southern section. The Silvermine reservoir, on the north side, was built in 1898 to supply water to Cape Town. Not far below the memorial are the University of Cape Town (UCT), Groote Schuur Hospital and Mostert's Mill. Above the memorial is the King's Blockhouse, and not far away is the Groote Schuur Zoo site, originally established as Rhodes's private zoo. The zoo was closed in the late 1970s, and only the lion's den now remains.
