Azad Azerbaijan TV (Azerbaijani: Azad Azərbaycan TV), also known by its acronym ATV, is an Azerbaijani privately-owned national terrestrial television channel. CBC, acronym of Caspian Broadcasting Company, is an Azerbaijani privately owned television channel owned by SOCAR and headquartered at 8 November Avenue in Baku. [1] It is the first international television channel of Azerbaijan, launched in 2009 as ATV International, later utilizing its current name in 2013 after it was acquired from Azad Azerbaijan TV.
Television in Azerbaijan was introduced in 1956, when Azerbaijan was still known as the Azerbaijani SSR. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Azerbaijan has a total of 47 television channels , of which 4 are public television channels and 43 are private television channels of which 12 are national television channels and 31 regional television channels.

The National Television and Radio Council allocated frequencies to Xazar TV and Azad Azerbaijan TV on 9 August 2017 in order for them to commence high-definition broadcasts. [ 18 ] [ 19 ] Although originally planned to do so in 2015, [ 20 ] it officially commenced high-definition broadcasts on 18 September 2017. [ 14 ]
