I have both of them. Leupold is VX5HDZL2 3-15x44 firedot reticle. Whew that's a long title. Ziess is V4 6-24x50 #60 reticle. Haven't ordered at turret for the Ziess, as I'm not sure what gun its going to stay on. But I've hunted a great deal with the leupold and I'm pleased with it. I like that they offer a free turret.

Just received today and mounted. First off, Warne Maxima QD rings are way better than the Leupy QRW2 rings for installation ease. Especially for leveling the reticle. Moving forward... Pros: Clear glass Wide field and even at max power Good colors Stereo dial feel of side focus knob Excited to...
This evening I sat down with a couple of other posh scopes to compare on dusk. Kahles K418, Kahles Helia CL 3-10X50, Zeiss Diavari V 2.5-10X50. As much as I hate to admit it, the Leupold resolves slightly better than the K418 at 15power. Not much, but its just a bit easier to make out detail. On 10 power, the Helia wins.
I am looking at getting a new rifle scope in a 3-18x50 that is still reasonably lightweight. Would love to have one in 3-24 power, but nobody seems to make that combination. Right now I am looking at: Leupold VX-6HD 3-18x50 at 22.8 oz. Zeiss Conquest V6 3-18x50 at 22.2 oz. I am hoping to get...
Leupold's primary market is hunters. They've had to be dragged, kicking and screaming every step of the way, and denying that there was a market, into the tactical world. For example, Premier Reticles for a decade or more made their primary business putting FFP reticles in Leupold scopes, because Leupold wouldn't.
The dials on the scope seem to function rather well too for the most part. They come in 3-18s and 4-24s and I think a 2-12 model as well. The clarity of the scopes are excellent as well, and the weight on the scopes themselves are good for hunting.
Leupold Vari-X III 8.5-25x40 AO Matte with target turrets and sunshade. Fine Duplex. One cap has paint wear, light ring marks and a couple other nicks in finish.
Bought a Leupold VX5HD 3-15X44 HTMR reticle scope last year. I'm not a brand loyal guy, and not a Leupold supporter, but this scope is the mutt's nuts! Glass is spectacular and the tracking is stellar. Anywhoo, I put the scope on my 300WM Savage 110 High Country and I dial all my stuff from my ballistic cheat cards.
