Loop 109 is located in Elgin. Loop 109 was designated on August 2, 1943, as a loop off SH 20/SH 95 in Elgin with a connection from SH 95 north of town to old SH 20. The route was formerly SH 20 (now US 290) before it was rerouted. On October 25, 1990, a 0.6-mile (0.97 km) section in Elgin was transferred to FM 1100.
