The Republic of Korea Military Police (ROK MP; Korean: 대한민국 국군 군사경찰; Hanja: 大韓民國國軍軍事警察; RR: Daehanminguk Gukgun Gunsagyeongchal), are the uniformed law enforcement agencies of each respective branch of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces.
The unit was initially assigned to the 1st Brigade in December 1947 and was later reassigned to the 6th Division when it was activated in May 1949. [3] On June 25, 1950, the 6th Division took part in the Battle of Chuncheon during the North Korean attack. The division became part of II Corps after the first fall of Seoul.
On 1 December 2020, all subordinate regiments of each divisions in the Republic of Korea Army reorganized into brigades. [ 1 ] As of July 2023, [update] Republic of Korea Army has 2 Field armies , 6 Corps and 34 Divisions .
The division was under the control of Northeastern Military District. Under the flag of 166th division, it took part in the Chinese Civil War. In July 1949, the division was disbanded, and all its 10,620 Korean officers and soldiers moved to North Korea, where it was re-organized as the 6th Division of the Korean People's Army. The 6th Armored Division was activated on 15 February 1942 at Fort Knox, Kentucky.The major elements of the division originally were the 68th and 69th Armored Regiments and the 50th Armored Infantry Regiment; the 68th Armored Regiment had originally been part of the 1st Armored Division, while the 69th Armored Regiment had been part of the 2nd Armored Division.
