[1] His connection with whales began when he was 14 on a visit with his family to Laguna Beach, California where he saw the ocean for the first time and witnessed several gray whales migrating down the California coast towards Mexico. Helena was an art installation by Marco Evaristti originally at the Trapholt museum in 2000. The art was a room with 10 blenders, each of which contained a goldfish. The fish were vulnerable to any visitor to the exhibit who chose to turn on a blender and kill them. During the exhibition two fish were killed in this way.
