Culver Military Academy, also known as the Culver Academies, is actually home to three different prestigious entities. While steeped in a heritage that dates back over one hundred years, CMA is a progressive college-preparatory school that uses the military model to educate and train its cadets in practical leadership.
Culver Military Academy, established in 1894, and Culver Girls Academy, founded in 1971, compose Culver Academies, one of the leading college preparatory boarding schools in North America. We are located in Culver, Indiana, on a beautiful 1,800-acre campus on the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee.
The military program at Culver was instituted by its founder, Henry Harrison Culver, as a way of imparting the values of service, duty, and excellence to its students and as a means of developing responsible citizens and leaders of character for society.
The culmination of Culver's system sees first classmen taking responsibility for the military system. The lesson is one of service leadership. A First Class Cadet may be appointed to leadership positions such as Platoon Leader, Unit Commander, or the top billet of Regimental Commander.
Culver educates its students for leadership and responsible citizenship in society by developing and nurturing the whole individual – mind, spirit, and body – through integrated programs that emphasize the cultivation of character.
