Grady EMS is an emergency care provider owned by Grady Healthcare System, established in 1892 in Atlanta, Georgia. Grady EMS provides advanced life support to any citizen or visitor in the City of Atlanta in Fulton County. Grady EMS staffs more than 350 personnel and maintains a fleet of more than 46 ALS ambulances.

In 2012, EMS leaders recognized the need for qualified EMS personnel to respond across state lines in both day-to-day duties, in non-governor level declared disaster situations, and planned large-scale events, and the requirement for state EMS licensing authorities to better share licensure information.
Department of Transportation (DOT): includes vehicle registration, tags, and license plates. These responsibilities are usually organized into separate agencies under a DPS due to their diversity, though there is a critical exception in certain local jurisdictions (as further explained below).
National EMS standards for the US are determined by the U.S. Department of Transportation and modified by each state's Department of EMS (usually under its Department of Health), and further altered by Regional Medical Advisory Committees (usually in rural areas) or by other committees, or even individual EMS providers.
