The Big Cartoon DataBase (or BCDB for short) was an online database of information about animated cartoons, animated feature films, animated television shows, and cartoon shorts. The BCDB project began in 1997 as a list of Disney animated features on creator Dave Koch's local computer. [1]

On March 6, 1992, in response to the success of its Saturday morning live-action teen sitcom Saved by the Bell, NBC cancelled its entire Saturday morning block of cartoons (including Yo Yogi!) and replaced the cartoons with a new block of live-action shows targeting teenagers in addition to a Saturday edition of The Today Show. The musical performance of the big band song "Swing for Sale" by The Four Blackbirds and The Basin Street Boys is taken directly from the 1937 cartoon short Clean Pastures, [7] directed by Friz Freleng. This cartoon was re-released into the Blue Ribbon Merrie Melodies program on February 1, 1947. [5]
