Bay Springs is a city in and the western county seat of Jasper County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 1,670 at the 2020 census, [3] down from 1,786 at the 2010 census. [4] State highways 15 and 18 intersect at the city. It is part of the Laurel, Mississippi (in Jones County) micropolitan area.
Jasper County is located in the U.S. state of Mississippi.At the 2020 census, the population was 16,367. [1] In 1906, the state legislature established two county courts, one at the first county seat of Paulding in the eastern part of the county and also one at Bay Springs in the west, where the railroad had been constructed. Mississippi Highway 531 (MS 531) is a state highway in central Mississippi. The road starts at MS 28 near Taylorsville and travels northeastward. It crosses from Smith County to Jasper County, and ends at MS 18 in the town of Bay Springs. The route was designated in 1956 along its current alignment, and it was paved by 1960.

It is 23.7 miles (38.1 km) long and travels between Bay Springs at MS 15 to U.S. Route 11 (US 11) outside of Heidelberg. An interchange with Interstate 59 (I-59) is located along the highway within the town limits of Heidelberg.
The Cedars, on Grayson Springs Road in Grayson County, Kentucky east of Leitchfield, was built in c.1789 and 1847. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. [1] The main block of the brick house, Greek Revival in style, was built by Benjamin Lone Rogers in 1847.
