The company is listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange and its stock is part of the S&P Sri Lanka 20 Index. Lion Brewery produces the highest selling beer, Lion Lager, in both Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

It is as known one of Sri Lanka's oldest and most renowned liquor manufacturers in Sri Lanka. The company was subsequently renamed Asia Pacific Brewery Lanka Limited. In February 2017 the company changed its name again to Heineken Lanka Limited to reflect its relationship with the Heineken Group. The Heineken Group having acquired full control of Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd in 2012 and rebranding it as Heineken Asia Pacific in 2013.
The local beer market is currently occupied by two main brewers. The largest of Sri Lanka's brewers is the Lion Brewery, which is also the oldest brewery in the country. It produces over 90% of Sri Lanka's beers. In 1988 it constructed a new brewery at Biyagama to replace the century-old facility at Nuwara Eliya.
