The properties on this List of contributing properties (Sycamore Historic District) are part of the National Register of Historic Places. They joined the Register when the Sycamore Historic District , in Sycamore, Illinois , was designated in 1978.
The Illinois Historic Structures Survey described the gates as the best extant example of iron cemetery gate design in the state. [2] A number of prominent past citizens of both Sycamore and nearby DeKalb are buried in the cemetery. The gates have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since November 28, 1978. [1]
Maria Elizabeth Ridulph (March 12, 1950 – c. December 1957) was a seven-year-old girl who disappeared from Sycamore, Illinois, on December 3, 1957.Her remains were found almost five months later in a wooded area near Woodbine, Illinois, approximately 90 miles (140 km) from her home.

Amanda Belle Elzy (died 2004) was a pioneering African-American educator. [1] She graduated from Rust High School in 1929 and from Rust College in 1934. [1] She worked as Supervisor of Negro Schools in Leflore County, Mississippi, then became the first black assistant superintendent in the county, and was one of the founders of Mississippi Valley State University in the 1940s.

F.W. Partridge was an attorney who began his legal career in the DeKalb County city of Sandwich, Illinois. Later, when he moved to Sycamore, he achieved some notoriety in that profession. During the Civil War Partridge was a breveted Brigadier General. [2] Toward the end of the war he served as DeKalb County Clerk and Recorder; from 1864-1867.
