Havelock is a city in Craven County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 20,735 at the 2010 census. NC 101 was an original state highway appearing on a 1922 state map of North Carolina. NC 101 started at former NC 10 south of Havelock. NC 101 then went southeast through the town of Newport, and the communities of Mansfield and Wildwood. NC 101 had its eastern terminus in Morehead City. [6] In 1928 NC 10 and NC 101 swapped routing.
Local leadership in Craven County has seen a handful of retirements and resignations, in 2021. Havelock has seen a good portion of that while closing in on the hiring of their new city manager.

The Havelock Bypass is a planned 10.1-mile (16.3 km) four-lane freeway intended to improve existing sections of US 70 and a bypass west of Havelock, through the Croatan National Forest. The routing through Havelock would become US 70 Bus. Draft and environmental studies began in September 2011 and were completed in January 2016.
