The soundtrack to Rocketry featured nine tracks; two original songs composed by Tennessee-based country musicians Billy Dawson and Nate Cornell, a rendition of the devotional track "Sri Venkateswara Suprabatham", arranged and produced by Divakar Subramaniam and Sam's original score accompanying the remainder of it.
The composition was published in the Tamil magazine Kalki in 1967. The song became popular after it was sung as one of the pieces in the Long Play Record set, known as Sri Venkateswara (Balaji) Pancharatnamala by M. S. Subbulakshmi in 1979/80. Annamayya is said to have composed as many as 32,000 samkirtanas (songs) in the praise of Venkateswara of which only about 12,000 are available today.
Venkateswara literally means "Lord of Venkata". [ 4 ] [ 5 ] The word is a combination of the words Venkata (the name of a hill in Andhra Pradesh) and iśvara ("Lord"). [ 6 ] According to the Brahmanda and Bhavishyottara Puranas , the word "Venkata" means "destroyer of sins", deriving from the Sanskrit words vem (sins) and kata (power of immunity).
