The Leeds Thomas Danby site, on Roundhay Road in Leeds, was known as the Thomas Danby Campus of the new college. The site was closed in September 2013 [1] due to serious concerns regarding asbestos. [citation needed] Leeds City College's new Printworks Campus, in Hunslet Road, opened in September 2013, replacing the Thomas Danby Campus. [2] [3]
The school has 1,619 students as of November 2021 between the ages of 11 and 18, and 80 members of staff. The school was awarded Humanities College status in 2006. In August 2011 the school was changed into an Academy and is now known as 'Abbey Grange Church of England Academy'. The school was judged Good by Ofsted in 2017. [1]
The school then relocated to a new site near John Charles Centre for Sport. In 2009 the school converted to academy status and was renamed The South Leeds Academy. [ 2 ] After a period of poor results the school gained a new sponsor in 2018 and was renamed Cockburn John Charles Academy.
Leeds School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) is a collaboration of schools in England from the north of Leeds and Bradford together with Leeds Trinity University which offers teacher training at the secondary level. It offers courses in design and technology (including food technology), ICT, music and science.
