Mr Fox is an anthropomorphic, tricky, and clever fox who lives underground beside a tree with his wife and four children. To feed his family, he makes nightly visits to local farms owned by three cruel, rude, wicked and dim-witted farmers named Boggis, Bunce, and Bean, stealing poultry from each.
Realizing that the farmers plan to use Kristofferson to lure him into an ambush, Mr. Fox heads to the surface to surrender but returns when Rat, Bean's violent security guard, confronts the animals and attacks Ash and Felicity. A fight between Mr. Fox and Rat results in the latter being pushed into a generator, electrocuting him.

Mr. Fox is a beloved writer with a bad habit. He can't stop killing the heroines in his novels in most diabolical fashions. Mary wants to help, as much for Mr. Fox's sake as for the sake of the women in his stories. The complication is that Mary isn't exactly real; she's Mr. Fox's muse and a creation of his mind.
Once inside the barn, Fox is worried about their close proximity to humans, but Kestrel, Owl and Mr. Pheasant all agree to take turns keeping watch from a plum tree. However, Pheasant is too busy sleeping when his turn comes, so his wife takes his place, only to fall asleep herself. She hears the Farmer and his dog too late, and is shot.
