Shelburne is a town in Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. Located along the shores of Lake Champlain, Shelburne's town center lies approximately 7 miles (11 km) south of the city center of Burlington, the most populous city in the U.S. state of Vermont. As of the 2020 census, the population of Shelburne was 7,717. [3]
VT 116 (Vermont Route 116) Interstate 89 has two interchanges serving the city. Exit 13 merges with I-189, which ends at Shelburne Road (U.S. Route 7). The second interchange, Exit 14, is the state of Vermont's largest highway exit and merges onto U.S. Route 2. Exit 14E merges onto Williston Road and Dorset Street in South Burlington.
The village's greatest period of development was between about 1880 and 1910, when industry developed near the railroad, and the town benefited from the philanthropy of the Shelburne Museum's founders, William Seward Webb and Electra Havemeyer Webb. [3] The historic district is centered at the junction of US 7 with Harbor Road and Falls Road.
Shelburne is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the central village and surrounding suburban land in the town of Shelburne, Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census , the CDP had a population of 6,178, [ 2 ] out of 7,717 in the entire town.
Interstate 189 (I-189) is an auxiliary Interstate Highway in Chittenden County, Vermont. The spur extends for 1.49 miles (2.40 km) from I-89 exit 13 in South Burlington to US Route 7 (US 7) at the Burlington city limit. I-189 is the only auxiliary route of I-89 and the only auxiliary Interstate Highway in Vermont.
