Canadian County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of the 2020 census, the population was 154,405, [1] making it the fourth most populous county in Oklahoma. Its county seat is El Reno. [2] The county is named for the Canadian River, which forms part of its southern border.

The Canadian River forms the county line and the southern boundary of Union City. U.S. Route 81 passes through the center of the town, leading north 7.5 miles (12.1 km) to Interstate 40 and 10 miles (16 km) to El Reno, while leading south 6 miles (10 km) to Minco. Oklahoma State Highway 152 leads east from Union City 12 miles (19 km) to Mustang.
Four Counties Corner is a suburban unincorporated community that is centered on the quad-point where four counties meet: Kingfisher, Logan, Oklahoma and Canadian. It is one of only two such county quad-points in the state of Oklahoma, and is also a public school district tri-point, with the districts of Deer Creek, Cashion, and Piedmont all meeting at this same corner.
Okarche is located on the boundary of Kingfisher and Canadian counties. U.S. Route 81 leads south 14 miles (23 km) to El Reno and 16 miles (26 km) to Interstate 40, and 10 miles (16 km) north of Kingfisher. Oklahoma State Highway 3 leads southeast 34 miles (55 km) to Oklahoma City.

At the time of its founding, Canadian was located in Tobucksy County, Choctaw Nation, in the Indian Territory. [4] The settlement was originally called South Canadian, taking its name from the nearby South Fork of the Canadian River, now called Gaines Creek. A post office was established at South Canadian, Indian Territory on May 29, 1873.
