DUSC is associated with Team Durham, [3] and receives funding as well as help in other areas from this organisation. Durham has gone on to win three Triple-A National Championship Games (2009, 2017, and 2022). The 1988 film Bull Durham, starring Kevin Costner, Tim Robbins, and Susan Sarandon, featured the Bulls and Durham Athletic Park, the team's stadium at the time. Most of the filming was done at the ballpark following the end of the 1987 season.
