Import Tuner Challenge [a] is a racing game published by Ubisoft and developed by Genki for the Xbox 360.It is an installment in the long-running Shutokō Battle series of games known as Tokyo Xtreme Racer in North America and Tokyo Highway Challenge in Europe.
At night, the player can challenge rivals in the parking lot, and race them in a vein similar to Shutokō Battle/Tokyo Xtreme Racer: the first one to have their life bar depleted loses; however, the first racer to cross the finish line will win the race. Through the night, the player will face the "Tricksters", a type of mini-bosses in the course.
The last main Shutokou Battle game released was Shutokou Battle X for the Xbox 360, which was released in 2006 and is known in Western markets as Import Tuner Challenge. In late 2006, Genki announced they would end the Shutokou Battle series, and eventually shut down the Genki Racing Project, as a part of a cost-cutting operation.
The game includes Japanese and imported foreign cars. The foreign cars included are Alfa Romeo, Mini, Lotus, DeTomaso, and Volkswagen, depending on the version. Honda was licensed in this game (with some cars localized as Acura models in the US version) but was not available in Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 due to licensing issues.
