The Transfiguration of Jesus is an event reported by the Synoptic Gospels in which Jesus is transfigured upon a mountain (Matthew 17:1–9, Mark 9:2–8, Luke 9:28–36). Jesus becomes radiant, speaks with Moses and Elijah, and is called "Son" by God. The transfiguration put Jesus above Moses and Elijah, the two preeminent figures of Judaism.
The height of the work was 25.5 in. (64.7 cm) and the width 15.9 in. (40.3 cm). His icon consists of four main parts. The upper portion features the transfiguration, Jesus is in the center flanked by Moses and Elijah. Both figures were associated with Mount Sinai. To the left and right there are scenes with Jesus and his followers.
The icon was given to the regiment's field hospital in 1900 by the commander of the regiment at the time, the general-major Grand Duke Constantine Constantinovich.
