Dora the Explorer is an American media franchise centered on an eponymous animated interactive fourth wall children's television series created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh Valdes, and Eric Weiner, and produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio.
From left to right: Swiper (in background), Dora, and Boots. The series centers around Dora Márquez, a seven-year-old Latina girl, with a love of embarking on quests related to an activity that she wants to partake of or a place that she wants to go to, accompanied by her talking purple backpack and anthropomorphic monkey companion named Boots (named for his beloved pair of red boots).

Backpack (voiced by Katarina Sky [4]) is Dora's talking backpack, who helps Dora on her adventures by holding things she needs. Grumpy Old Troll (voiced by Danny Burstein [4]) is a yellow creature who lives under the bridge. When someone crosses the bridge (notably Dora and Boots), he tells them to solve a riddle to proceed to their destination.
As a child 7-8 years old in Dora the Explorer (2000), she is portrayed as a multilingual educator who likes sports, family, exploring the world, and her friends Boots, Backpack, Map, Isa, Benny, and Tico. Dora also has a cousin named Diego Márquez with whom she sometimes has adventures. As a 10-year-old in Dora and Friends: Into the City!
The show debuted on August 18, 2014 and ended on February 5, 2017. It aired on Nickelodeon as part of its weekday morning preschool block. On October 9, 2014, Nickelodeon renewed the series for a 20-episode second and final season, [1] which aired from September 10, 2015 until February 5, 2017.
Dora, who is now a 10-year-old girl, [1] attends school and lives in the city of Playa Verde, California.
