Reichmann University was founded in 1994 by Uriel Reichman as the Israeli private college Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC Herzliya, Hebrew: המרכז הבינתחומי הרצליה). [ 4 ] The campus is located in the city of Herzliya, Israel , six miles north of the city Tel Aviv , on the grounds of a former Israeli Air Force base.

The school is located next to a science center which was built especially for Handasaim, used by all high schools in Herzliya. The science center includes advanced labs for physics, chemistry, robotics etc., and is the biggest science center used by high school students in Israel. The school supports programs such as FRC, FLL and Nachshon.
