The Australian cricket team toured India from 27 September to 10 November 2008 and played four test matches, for the Border–Gavaskar Trophy. [1] During the second test match in Mohali Sachin Tendulkar became the first person to make 12,000 runs in Test cricket breaking Brian Lara's record of 11,953 runs.
The result ensured that Australia retained the Border–Gavaskar Trophy, as well as taking Ricky Ponting's team to 16 consecutive Test wins, equalling the previous Test record, also held by Australia under Steve Waugh. India has won the trophy ten times, while Australia has won it five times with one series ending in a draw.
I've moved the page back from the earlier move to 2008-09 Border-Gavaskar Trophy to it's original title Australian cricket team in India in 2008-09. This title seems to be the naming convention for any test match series. If it should be moved to the 2008-09 Border-Gavaskar Trophy title, please dicuss it here so a consensus can be reached.
