January 1431 – 16 July 1497) and Margaret Clere (d. 16 January 1500), daughter of Robert Clere, esquire, of Ormesby St Michael, Norfolk, and Elizabeth Uvedale, daughter of Thomas Uvedale, esquire.

John Smith in his "General Historie of Virginia" (Volume 2, p. 549) writes that James Shelton was a resident of Jamestown, Virginia in 1620 and that he was a member of the court from 1619–1624. Smith writes that the Sheltons owned property in Virginia and did a large business with Bermuda.

Anne Shelton died 8 January 1556, at Norwich. [14] It is unknown whether she was buried at Shelton church or Carrow Abbey, but her image appears in the stained glass windows of St. Mary's Church in Shelton. [15] [16] Her will was proved at the Consistory Court of Norwich on 1 June 1556. [17]
