The 90s (I think around 1999 or so) is wood only, and the 1954 one is wood/metal. I don't think I would cut much, if any, metal on it.
This bandsaw comes with 9 spoke cast wheels. The Bandsaw has a push on/off switch. For the table it has a trunnion system that can allow the table to tilt 45 to the right , and 3 to the left. The Delta 28-206 has the biggest table size in it class, coming out to be 16"x16". It comes with innovated design for tension.
Delta 14" Bandsaw. Is $500 a reasonable price for a used 14" Delta model 62-245 bandsaw? Looks fairly well maintained and has a mobile base. 62-245 is the catalog number for the 3/4hp motor. Machine itself will be a generic 28-2xx (wood only) or 28-3xx (wood/metal). If you get the serial number, you can date it and get a more exact catalog number.
Last weekend I was able to snag a Delta 14 inch bandsaw model 28-203 for $160! It was in working order, clean, and seemed to be a bandsaw I could upgrade or find parts for pretty easily. This weekend I took apart the upper and lower bolts that move the guide blocks and bearings back and forth. I removed all the rust and lubed them up with a ...
Adding fences and risers and guides (oh my!) puts you in the price range of a much better used 14" saw. In my recent experience a new 14" HF saw is probably on par with that Rockwell. But for $5-600 you can find a nice used saw with a riser block, fence, guides etc., so I'd pass on the Rockwell if you have a new HF saw.

Someone wanted a US made bandsaw and I got a good price for it. The motor that came with my 28-280 was an open drip proof Emerson.
Delta 14" Bandsaw identification. I'm trying to identify the model number for my Delta 14" band saw (S/N AU-859, made in Tupelo, MS in 1953). It's the old style with the hollow casting over arm and the hex shaft for the upper blade guides. I think it could be an 890, 28-205, or 28-207, or something else. If any one has a clue, please let me know.

Matt, I did the same thing you're talking about on my bandsaw….I have a Delta 14", and like you said, the dust collection sucks…I cut a hole in the door just below the knob, and put an adapter on with screws to hook up a 2 1/2" hose connected to my dust collector….Go to my workshop and look ...
1/2" blades are usually in the 0.02x" thickness, while 3/4" blades are in the 0.03x"-0.04x". now given the fact that a 14" wheel has a small diameter these blades have to go around (compared to 16", 18",20") the thicker blade material has difficulties with that - compared to the thiner 1/2" material blades. ㊍ When in doubt - There is no doubt ...
I have the opportunity to possibly pick-up a Delta 28-275 bandsaw (14-inch) off of Craigslist for what I feel is a pretty good price. It also includes 2-new blades, and an after market adjustable fence and resaw guide (not sure which ones). He also added a dust port and dust collection mounts.
