Is world of warcraft a turn based mmo? Personally i think it is a real time game, but a friend of mine keeps insisting that wow is a turn based mmo, where after one player performs an action, he must wait for the enemy to perform (or skip) and action, in order to get his 2nd turn (attack again). Yeah, just like ESO got on the pass after they acquired Bethesda .. oh wait. There is a chance for it's plan to be somewhat changed and maybe make the game without current expansion B2P, but people gotta keep in mind that MS did not buy ABK to the knight in shiny armor ... they did it for profits ... more specifically COD and Candy Crush over anything else.
WoW is a mmorpg, a single player game would just be an rpg, and there are quite a lot of good rpgs out there. In terms of difficulty, the most challenging rpg you will ever find is dark souls, though I feel like that wouldn't be the kind of challenge you're referencing if you want something similar to wow.

Still Waiting for a game like Crysis to run the DX11 with full Tessellation and DOF ON that would be like me.... awesomeness. The reason wow has 12million subscribers is because 12million people are to cheap to upgrade there machines to play a real game, in reality they could play S.U.N for free and save that money for that upgrade.
