One of the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra's main goals is to provide high-quality music education for the youth of the Champaign–Urbana metropolitan area. Each year, the CUSO reaches approximately 15,000 youths through its Youth Concerts, In-School Concerts, and events such as the Instrument Petting Zoo.
The Virginia Theatre hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year. Classic films play on the 56-foot-wide screen several nights every month. The first marching band unit of record at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign was during the first year of classes in the fall of 1867. [1] This was a group that consisted of a tenor drum, bass drum and fife. In January 1869, these three members were joined by several brass players who brought instruments from home.
