It was the only fatal Concorde accident during its 27-year operational history. [ 1 ] Whilst taking off from Charles de Gaulle Airport , Air France Flight 4590 ran over debris on the runway dropped by an aircraft during the preceding departure, causing a tyre to explode and disintegrate.
25 July 2000 - Air France Flight 4590, a Concorde, was on its take-off roll when it ran over a metal strip left by a Continental Airlines DC-10. One of its tires burst and its pieces hit the fuel tank and ignited a fire. The Concorde stalled and crashed on a hotel in Gonesse, France. All 109 on board and 4 people in the hotel are killed.
The crash took place three days following the release of the band’s fifth studio album Street Survivors. The album cover showed the band surrounded by flames. Following the plane crash, MCA replaced the image with a new cover, showing the band against a simple black background, which was on the back of the original sleeve. [20]
