Sunderland (/ ˈ s ʌ n d ər l ə n d / ⓘ) is a port city [a] in Tyne and Wear, England.It is a port at the mouth of the River Wear on the North Sea, approximately 10 miles (16 km) south-east of Newcastle upon Tyne.
