Street Rod 2 is a video game developed by P.Z. Karen Co. Development Group and Logical Design Works as a sequel to Street Rod, based on an original concept by Magic Partners and published by California Dreams for Amiga and MS-DOS. Street Rod 2 exclusively features American muscle cars, specifically those from GM, Ford, and Chrysler.
Street Rod was released in 1989 and takes place in the year 1963. Equipped with a garage and a small amount of cash ($750), the player character buys a used car from the classified ads in a newspaper and embarks on a journey to rise through the ranks by winning races against other racers.
The series puts emphasis on fast-paced, arcade-style street racing in the vein of Need for Speed, along with elements from other racing games such as Ridge Racer and Burnout; the spin-off game Asphalt Xtreme takes place in an off-road racing setting, with open-wheel buggies, sport-utility vehicles and rally cars in lieu of supercars as in previous games.
Albeit poking fun at the player's choice of car, she helps the player buy their first car and kickstarts the player by introducing them to local street racers such as Jose (who offers circuit events), Klutch (who offers drag events), and Dirt (who offers drift events).
